Do you have Parkinson's Disease and Experience Hallucinations or Delusions?

What is the purpose of this study?

This study is being done to see if pimavanserin, a research medication, will help reduce hallucinations and/or delusions in patients with Parkinson's disease.

Can I participate in this study?

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

• Conditions:Parkinson's Disease; Psychosis, hallucinations, visualisations, delusions, pimavanserin
• Age: Between 40 - 100 Years
• Gender: Male or Female
• Inclusion Criteria:

  If you answer YES to all of these questions, you may be eligible to participate in this study:
  
      1. Have you had Parkinson's disease at least 1 year?
      2. Do you have hallucinations or delusions that started after being diagosed?
      3. Are you anti-Parkinson's medication?
  
          *The research team will review all inclusion criteria with you
• Exclusion Criteria:

  If you answer YES to any of these questions, you may not be eligible to participate in this study:
  
      1. Did you have delusions or hallucinations before being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease?
      2. Have you had a previous ablative stereotaxic surgery (pallidotomy, thalamotomy)?
      3. Have you had a heart attack in the last six months?
  
          *The research team will review all exclusion criteria with you.

Detail Study Description

• You will take a research study medication, pimavanserin, or a placebo (lookalike pill containing no medicine).
• Neither you nor the research study staff will know if you are taking the research medication or the placebo.
• You will be asked to come to Cleveland Clinic 8 times over 26 weeks.
